oh what a night.

okay, maybe it wasn't late december back in '63 ... but we did have a fantastic time the other night.  on friday night we went to an event for the boys' home with the militiches.  i didn't capture a lot of great photos because i don't have a tri-pod, so self portraits are hard.

we spent a lot of time searching around town this week for a suit for travis and a dress for me.  it felt like prom or something!  finding the right dress was painful.  in the end, i love how our outfits turned out -- travis in a deep navy pinstripe, three piece suit, and me in a mightnight blue cocktail dress.

all the pictures are before we left the house that night (just in case you couldn't tell), but we had a great time.  it was frah-ree-zing outside, so i was glad to have my warm wool coat.  we got the red carpet treatment as we pulled up to the building and had great food, great drinks, lots of fun at the blacktables, and even met new friends -- amanda and ethan eitel.  we are terrible about meeting new people, so it was fun to "click" with a new couple.

after the event we headed over to mcnellie's with the eitels.  mike and krystal thought about joining but never made it.  poor amanda had a cold, so she kept talking in a super deep voice.  we joked about it all night.  we finally headed home, dropping amanda and ethan off first.

i wasn't super excited to go to the event, but now that all is said and done, we really had a great time.

lindsay's 26th birthday: part ii.

i mentioned the other day that my family knows how to do birthdays right, and it's true.  we don't just stop with a family birthday party.  oh no.  we go all out with another party with friends.

so on saturday, we kicked off part two of lindsay's birthday.  apparently, parker was still worn out from the family birthday, and he spent a lot of time snoozing.

the leaches stopped by our house first, and then we headed to dinner at hu hot mongolian grill in at 71st and memorial.  we had never been before, but the evening was filled with good food (table top smores?  yes, please!), good friends, and lots of laughs.

here's parker hard at sleep again...

... and again at the bowling alley ...

after dinner, we headed over to andy b's for a little bowling action.  i'm not a huge fan of bowling, but we had a great crew who had a lot of fun together.  isn't miss chelsea such a cutie?

parker finally decided to make an appearance and spent time hanging out with uncle nate and sweet miss chelsea.

happy birthday, lindsay {again!}.  thanks for giving us a fun reason to celebrate!

lindsay's birthday with the leach family.

if you know me or have followed my blog for very long, you know that i looooooove birthdays.  i usually celebrate for a whole week (and if i'm lucky i can stretch it out through the month with a trip for our summer vacation).  i think this love of birthdays comes from the fact that my family knows how to do birthdays right.  =)

we start in january with amanda, then have mom's birthday in february, and then the ball really gets rolling with lindsay, travis, kate, justin, and amelia all within weeks of each other.

for lindsay's birthday we had a family lunch at my parents' house.  my mom made the cake and was a little frustrated with how sad it looked, but it was delicious!  this was lindsay's first birthday to celebrate with parker.  he loved all the festivities and sat with us at the table throughout the meal.

how can you look at that face and not swoon?  parker started getting a little sleepy, so papaw helped get a little food into his belly and then he slept for most of the afternoon.

sweet ivory is never one to miss out on a good birthday celebration.  she always loves having all of us home with her.  i think she gets lonely now that all the kids are grown and gone.  sierra's still there, of course, but is always busy with friends, school, and all the stuff teenagers find to occupy their time.

mom knows how to fill everyone up and you usually see a living room full of napping.  parker was in good company.  =)

after our food had settled, it was time for chocolate cake (i can still smell the yummy deliciousness).

happy 26th birthday, lindsay!!! we love you.
