thanks, trav.

today i had a pretty big order i was trying to fill. travis really wanted to go see date movie with steve carell and tina fey. i told him i couldn't make it unless he helped me fill this order for an upcoming wedding in hawaii. he was happy to oblige, and i'm so grateful he did.

check out his fabulous handiwork.
it's hard to tell from the picture, but the bride and groom's colors are a pinky coral color and a khaki, sand color. the pocket folder is actually a metallic sand and i think it looks oh so divine in person.

meeting ms. ella monroe collier.

on friday i got to see my dear, dear friend jen and meet the ever-so-beautiful ella {she looks just like her momma}. jen and i had been promising to meet up, but i wanted to make sure she had plenty of recovery time. we met up at the blue moon on brookside, a cute little sandwich cafe/bakery. travis ended up meeting us too as he was in the area, hungry, and needed to pick up a key from me.

it was so much fun to catch up with jen. we always have such a great time visiting and our visits are always too few and far between.

we're talking about meeting up one night at the river's edge or a driller's game {or both}. we think it would be a lot of fun to get a group together and hit up the new driller's stadium in downtown tulsa. she and i both can not wait until i finally get myself back to tulsa!

ella was {is} a doll. she sleeps all the time, so we didn't have many interruptions from her, and she looked so sweet sleeping in her car seat. i loved holding her. she's 8+ lbs, but she seems sooo tiny, and hudson seems even more grown up then ever.

can't wait to lunch with you again soon, jen! xoxo

laptop portfolio.

so i now need a fabulous portfolio for my fabulous new laptop. the only problem is, none of the shops around here carry bags large enough to hold a 17". little did i know, many people don't purchase a 17" with the idea of carting it around all the time. travis says i have to have a "laptop specific" bag so it will protect my new obsession. i started looking online, but haven't had just a ton of luck. some of the sites that were suggested to me are a little too cutesy for me. i fell in love with a kate spade bag, but it's out of stock everywhere.

i like that it's professional, but not too serious. that buttery leather is divine and a bag like this isn't going to fall apart with the weight of the laptop. fingers-crossed it really is just out of stock for a limited time.

we're moving!

we've been talking about it quite a bit lately, but yesterday, travis and i decided that we really had to find a new place of our own and move out of my parents' house. we've been here for a year and a month as of this week, and while we've been so grateful for our time here, it really is time to be moving on.

we woke up bright and early this morning {okay, 8:00} and headed to tulsa around 9:00. we had a 10:00 appointment at a complex we had never before visited. we decided to give it a shot because the pictures online looked so cool. when we arrived, however, no one was at the office. we waited for 15 minutes, walked around the complex, headed back to the office, and decided to leave when we found it had yet to be unlocked.

we drove around a few other apartments i had scoped out and waited for calls back on a couple of houses i had found on craigslist. those babies went fast, though. each of the ones that had been posted on friday were already rented by the time i got a call. bummer.

we really wanted to be in a rent house instead of an apartment so connor could have a yard. i have been surprised at how difficult it's been for us to find a home to rent. while at TU i always had a rent house, and both of the ones i had were pretty easy to find. that has not been the case for us.

we stopped into a "brokers" (?) office to pick up a listing of available properties. we would get to the neighborhoods, think they looked clean and cute ... until we got to the area the rental property was in and it went downhill from there. even travis didn't want to live in any of them {and he's always telling me to sacrifice now so we can have what we really want later}.

our last stop out of town was the greens in broken arrow. we really wanted to be in broken arrow so my drive to muskogee for work wouldn't be that bad, but would still put us in the tulsa area and out of the town i hate so much. i was actually really surprised when we walked into the model and saw how large and open everything was. apartments often feel like a box, but this didn't seem to be the case with this model.

we walked around for a bit after leaving the manager back at the office following our tour. we checked out the location of the apartment they had available and decided that it wasn't bad. we went back to the office and put down on application fee, security deposit, and pet deposit for mr. connor.

it felt so good to finally be making progress and moving forward, but i also immediately had a little "buyers' remorse" thinking about the idea of a house ... and how it will be a year at least until we find ourselves in one. i didn't dwell on it for long, though; the idea of moving was too exciting to focus on the not-so-great.

i'm also super excited that we'll be living right across the street from kate and nick's neighborhood. did i mention kate and nick bought a house??? very, very exciting. they were supposed to close yesterday, but the underwriter didn't get everything completed. monday is the day for them.

we'll get to move in on june 5 ... right before i leave for hawaii! aghh! but a huge relief at the same time!

i decided to post a few pictures of the model just so you have an idea of how it looks. i wish the appliances weren't white, but what are you going to do?

my fiance is the best.

i don't know if you remember or not, but a while back my laptop crapped out on me. just died all of the sudden for no reason. travis and i were later gifted with an old laptop from tom that his roommate had gotten from a previous employer. the screen was disconnected from the keyboard and wasn't in working condition at the time, but for $50 and a few hinges, travis got me up and running again. i was so grateful to have a laptop to work on so i could keep filling orders for my customers. as i mentioned, however, the laptop was pretty old and it ran so. stinkin'. slllllllooooww. with all the design programs i run, i really needed something that would run a little faster. we are still on a super tight budget right now, however {did i mention sixbyte closed at the end of april}, so i was being thankful for what i had and trying to make do the best i could. then my fabulous fiance told me he had come across an incredible deal on a brand new 17" laptop that would be great for my design, and asked if i would like it!! did he even have to ask?? i was so shocked; i just couldn't believe it. the beautiful laptop arrived yesterday, and being the sweet guy he is, travis unwrapped it, got it set up with my credentials, had it charged up, and then packaged it all back up just as it came so that i could come home and find it on my bed ready to be opened. such a sweetheart.

river's edge.

this evening was one of the more perfect evenings i've had in some time. i've been super busy with orders for notably noted and have been trying to figure out a way to clone myself, or give myself additional sets of hands and arms. i was in tulsa today to deliver invitations and had asked kate if she was available to meet up. i was wrapping up a meeting at 3:30 and she had a meeting at 5:00, so we decided to meet up for about an hour. her meeting was at tu, so we parked her car on campus and then headed to the buckaneer for a drink. the weather was absolutely gorgeous! the front and back door to the bar were open creating a refreshing breeze. we got caught up in girl talk and realized it was 5:00 before we knew it. we were going to head over to the school, but kate decided she could be about 10 minutes late. 15 minutes later she decided she was not going to go to the meeting. an hour later we realized she had just missed a meeting with nick and their mortgage broker. nick was great, took care of the meeting ... and kate and i headed to the river's edge on riverside. kate had never been and i had been dying to go. we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day to sit by the river, enjoy a drink, and eat some yummy sandwiches. we never get to see each other often enough, so our time is filled with nonstop chat. we decided a girls' night sleep over was in order very. very. soon. happy spring!

baby lily.

please keep my friend jen collier's friends, the whittens, in your prayers. their newborn daughter, lily, has been diagnosed with the edward syndrome. most babies with this syndrome don't survive birth or, at most, 15 days past birth. little lily is now 17 days old. however, this news is heartbreaking for michael, chrissy, and the entire family.

please pray for their strength and comfort in this time of need.
