beach bums: mexico vacation day 2.

i'm not sure how this happened, but i didn't bust out a camera on our vacation until day 4.  day 4, people.  what was i thinking?

actually, now that i think about it, i do remember why...

travis and i didn't turn our phones on while we were on vacation because he purposefully chose not to add the international plan to our phone.  an international option is really pretty inexpensive, but he wanted us to be able to completely shut down.  when you don't pay for an international plan, data gets pretty pricey -- as you can see i learned later in the trip when i did turn my phone on.

so at the beginning of the trip, i let my cell phone die and then i didn't turn it back on for fear that i would have a lot of text messages from other people before i had a chance to turn my signal off.  i also didn't take the big camera when we headed to the beach for fear i would get sand in it.

so there ... that's what i was thinking.  wow.  am i good at bounding down the rabbit trail or what?  i'm sure you really wanted that in-depth look at the inner workings of my brain.

back to vacation.  we started the day off with breakfast in the buffet.  poor travis.  he was sweating like a work horse.  his medicines cause him to sweat pretty profusely and the tropical environment certainly didn't help matters.

we headed to the beach for about four hours.  somehow everyone but me managed to get super burned in that short amount of time.  we headed in for lunch and then back to the beach.  this time everyone stayed in the water hoping to hide their bodies from the sun ... i don't think that logic held up.

our resort was connected to several other resorts, so we headed over to coba to check out their buffet for dinner.  it seemed a little dressier than our buffet. we wrapped up dinner and then walked around.  we found ourselves at the tulum lobby bar at akumal {another resort}.   a little bit of white wine was consumed at dinner and at the akumal and kate may or may not have walked into the men's restroom ...

it was a beautiful evening, and we decided we really liked the patio at akumal.
